It seems that the EPB has failed on my 05 Stype diesel but not locked on like a few posts have suggested but has failed off and just doesnt work. I have the parkbrake fault message up on the dash as well as the brake warning light. Trying to put the parkbrake on does nothing and the car moves freely when in neutral. The car is currently at an independant specialist and im waiting to see what they say. My thoughts are either the actuator under the rear of the car or the module under the parkbrake switch has failed. I can imagine either of these parts being pretty costly.

 

Just found out from the dealer no comms to the EPB module £450 to replace (ouch)

 

Get a module from a scrappie / ebay? Just be sure to get the right one as later cars use CAN I believe. Probably cost you less than £50.

First though look at the JEPC and make sure the part number did not change. I think the module is the same for a number of model years but have not looked. I don't think the LS module would work but you are in the UK anyway so no LS to rob from. They are pretty common in the US which really helps on the parts that are common to both cars.
