Excessive Fuel Consumption
On a return trip I noticed that the engine amber light came on with no other negative indications or warnings. I did notice what seemed to be unusually high fuel usage. Any connection?
Oil was a tad low when I got home, tire pressures checked okay; engine never indicated or acted hot; tranny was overhauled recently.

Read the codes. A cheap ($10 from amazon/ebay) OBD tool such as elm327 will do that.
But also the elm327 will do live data so you can look at LTFTs (see my sig). You likely have an air leak - which LTFTs will confirm or rule out - and if so on that era engine it'll likely be the hose elbow under the intake.
Search on here will get you threads with fixes, if it's that.
If it's an air leak it adds fuel and can't fuel properly...
