expanding EPB caliper

none of the above^^^, he should have disabled the EPB system before servicing the EPB caliper,
Also, his main rear caliper might also be removed, so dont go stepping on the brake pedal at this time unless you want to make a real mess,
if you examine the EPB brake caliper pistons closely,there are two small holes in the piston, there is a special tool i believe, but, you can make do with a universal angle grinder wrench/tool such as this,
you use it to spin the piston clockwise for it retract into the caliper body...
something like this, or ideally, an adjustable equivalent,

don't retract it too far or you will have EPB errors for a long time time, you want to have the piston in just far enough so once the pads are in, and you're going to install, the whole thing slips over the rotor somewhat tight...

ok. so basicly it screws in backwards. I have it sitting on my workbench
because I needed the car to drive in to work today. I zip tied up the cable. I will take a look this evening. on the other side I removed the small hex screw and the lever moved back and I could just push it back. The hex screw on this side is not removable.
