Default Extended Warranty

hey guys

i just recently purchased an extended warranty(Premium Auto Protection)protectingmycar.com . However, I have 30 days to cancel the contract and I wanted to check on here to see if this warranty is worth it. I am paying 4200 total(over course of warranty) and there is a $100 deductible. I've tried googling "premium auto protection reviews" and I see that they have an a+ rating from bbb. However, I also see tons of complaints. Moreover, for some reason, it seems that there is NOT ONE extended warranty that has good reviews. the closest was apparently US fidelis and they filed for bankruptcy recently. google usually helps, but in this case, is getting me nowhere.
HELP?? thanks so much

btw, I have an '04 S Type 4.2L V8 purchased at 82,xxx miles(i only purchased it on May 5th.) and the last owner was the U.S. State Dept.

$4200 seems steep to me even though your mileage is high. I dunno.

Easycare seems to be pretty well regarded around here. MotorTrend also backed them up a few years ago. Try giving them a call and inquiring about prices on their 'TotalCare' warranty.

Good luck.

I've got EasyCare "Total Care" on my car and I think they're quite good. Last Jan. the battery went out on the car, had it towed to the dealer and they "found" several other items that were covered under warranty.
The dealer contacted EasyCare and they handled everything, including the rental car. I did upgrade to a new XF rental for an additional $20/day..
I paid $3,000 for the warranty when I got the car.

Easy care is very large and THE best of all the ew companies we deal with. you pay more the old the car, higher the mileage, and wether you buy later after the sale. And you can usually negotiate a better price. I guess another way for me to put it is, if I were to buy an Ezt war. I would buy from Easy Care. And you always owe it to yourself to have the car looked over by a good tech for KNOWN issues to repair that you may not even be aware of

thanks for all your replies guys... i am definitely canceling the premium auto protection warranty and getting easycare since you guys speak so highly of it... btw, i got the S type with nav and all other features(except adaptive cruise control) for 9,900 with 80,000 miles.. the only other owner was the US State Dept who used it as a diplomatic car.... so yes, high miles, but good deal, no? plus im 17, so i cant exactly plunk down 20k for a jag loll

Man for that kind of money you can cover an awful lot of fairly serious repairs. I got a quote from USAA for $2700 for two years, and I wouldn't even pay close to that.

yOURE GONNA PAY ALOT MORE WITH IGHER MILAGE AND YOU GONNA START RUNNING INTO TOO MANY EXCLUSIONS. I WOULD PUT THAT MONEY INTO A SEPERATE ACCOUNT EVERY MONTH TO GO FOR REPAIRS WHEN NEEDED

I concur. Start a maintenance fund, and contribute at least a couple hundred dollars a month to it if your budget allows you to do so. You will be very glad you did....

I never purchase extended warranties but always build a maintenance fund for any vehicle we bring into our stable. Of our three current vehicles, the 1999 Dodge Ram truck (approaching 61,000 miles) and 2004 Lexus RX330 AWD SUV (approaching 112,000 miles) rarely require anything other than routine maintenance. The 2005 Jaguar S-Type (approaching 59,000 miles) requires at least a couple thousand in reserve, however, due to its well-known quirks and issues. But if you can do most of the work yourself, you can still stay way ahead of the curve....

Welcome to the forum!

I had Easycare and it was great service. I got my money's worth. But i did not renew due to the higher cost. I agree with the posts on putting that money in a fund and using it for repairs.
