False display
I have a 2000 S-Type V8 with a strange problem. There is a message that shows "Left Tail Light Failed", but all of the fuses,
bulbs and connections seem ok and the turn indicator, brake light and reverse light all work. No problems on the right side.
The Jag dealer in Abu Dhabi wants $700 to replace a "computer chip", which seems excessive, so I ran a single ($0.25)
wire across the boot (trunk) from the right to the left and the left tail light now works fine. The problem is the message
still shows on the screen.
Does anyone have any experience with this or any suggestions as to how to fix it or even what the "computer chip" that
they want to replace might be?
Thanks.
