My mechanic is working on my 2001 Jaguar “S” type. The a/c is not working properly and it has something to do with the fan not ramping up properly. He tells me we need a “fan control module”, which apparently are not easy to find as Jaguar no longer makes them and neither does the after market. My mechanic says he can find used modules but he does not trust anyone selling him a used module that he has not dealt with before as if it does not work, he will not be able to return it. So, can anyone here lead me to a source for this module. Thanks in advance.

 

You may be SOL. You may have to just gamble on a used one from a wrecking yard or eBay and see what happens. Some eBay sellers do guarantee their parts. Read the seller's terms carefully and you might find one like that. Looks like you want Jaguar part number XR838C609AA, which may make your search a little easier.

Is your mechanic positive the module is at fault? Does the fan seem to run okay otherwise? You mentioned the fan speed never seems to pick up. I wonder if the fan motor is tired (worn brushes?) and so is not putting out full power. If I had to guess between a fan motor and a module, I'd suspect the motor first because it has moving parts that wear out. Thanks for replying. My mechanic was able to jump some wires and the fan worked fine. Yes we probably will have to go eBay.
