Fastest S-type R?

That's good and all momo but putting a pulley on a supercharged motor changes the setup that the manufacturer has set up. They tuned that car with direct intention of a certain amount of boost or psi for the supercharger with the particular pulley on there. If you'd like to get technical with a jag dealer I guess you could but would it honestly be worth it? An aftermarket exhaust is allowed from what I've heard as it isn't changing the operation of the engine but adding a pulley is putting more boost to your engine. You don't think they could say "you sent more power through the car than was originally engineered to go through the car and thus the powertrain and driveshaft broke! Thus it is your fault and its not covered!" I could easily see this being said from someone from jag...don't take my word for it as I'd put one on the car if I had one! Just puttin it out there so people think twice because in my opinion an exhaust or intake would be a different story...although they could say dirt got into your intake and caused the pistons to put scrapes in the walls and it was your intakes fault...so I guess I'd just change it back before going to the dealer!

RE: Fastest S-type R?
ok got the mina gallery exhaust installed late yest. it sounds great. i called my local jaguar shop and beat around the question of weather or not the pulley would void my warranty.....Per the service manager "the pulley will only void the warranty of the suppercharger" I took that as a green light to put it on. hopefully he didnt figure out who he was talking to, and if the S/C does fail hopefullythey wont notice the odd side...........yeah right. but i found a local euro motor shop to install the pulley on the 2nd. ill put pics of both then and get it to the track!!

RE: Fastest S-type R?
Just took my 03 STR to the track yesterday. Surprised the crap out of me. The only mod I have is a new set of mufflers, (Magnaflow) and deleted rear silencers. The best ET was a 13.13 with a 1.923 60 foot at 103.86 mph. My best mph was 105.23, that pass was a 13.25 with a 1.943 60 foot. I'm thinking of a pulley and maybe a programmer from Arden Performance. Does anyone know anything about this ECM programmer, as it is the only ECM tuner I can find on the Net.

RE: Fastest S-type R?
Gentlemen,
The FTC, Magnuson-Moss Warrany Act 1975 states:
"Further, under the act, aftermarket equipment that improves performance does not automatically void a vehicle manufacturer's original warranty, unless the warranty clearly states the addition of aftermarket equipment automatically voids your vehicle's warranty, or if it can be proven that the aftermarket device is the direct cause of the failure."
So modify to your hearts content, but if the smaller blower pulley over boost the engine and it blows up, you may have a problem.
Happy Racing

That's a really low ET with just mufflers ane removed silencers... Do you have an air intake or K&N filter? Anyone else had massive gains with exhaust mods?

Exhaust sounds great. Not that loud but it does have a very nice growl. Just alow moanat cruising speeds and opens up nicely when you put your foot in it. And the exhaust is the only mod so far. I am trying to talk my wife into buying me the XP intake. (Hey she said she loved me) The least she could do after all those trips to the Tiffany shop.

RE: Fastest S-type R?
Would a X pipe or H pipe set up work on TypeR for more power? What type of intercooler should we use? Also I have the access to hi-flow cats for a great price, what would be the HP or torque benefits? What size exhaust diameter would be the best for more HP/torque/MPG and sound? I have a K&N drop in filter now and will be getting an air intake and pulley soon.
Just want the car fast and in the mid to high 12s ET., and being reliable as a day to day driver..

RE: Fastest S-type R?
So if I am following the thread correctly the fastest S-Type R is a low 13 @ 105 ? How heavy are the cars?I would have thought they would trap more with 400hp. I remember a Motor Trend or Car&Driver test on the car a few years back where it ran like 14.0 @ 100 because the ECU wouldnt allow any tire spin at all and had the engine shifting before the car made peak power. If that is the case you would think an ECU reprogram or swap would be a huge addition to even a stock car.
I have always liked the S-Type styling and have tossed around the idea of seeing how fast we could get one to go but not sure how much of a market there is for performance parts for a Jag. Just from reading thru this one thread warranty concerns seem to out-weigh performance gains all day long.

RE: Fastest S-type R?
Kenne bell is making a 2.1 supercharger for it and eurotoys is coming out with it in the late spring early summer and im planning on getting one for my STR, its going to make a huge difference. I will also be making my own custom full exhaust, headers back.
The main reason why STR's are slow is because the stock tune sucks, the stock intake/exhaust isVERY resrictive, and you cant really launch the car. Its slow out ofthe whole. If you do simple things the car you can get it into 12s like nothing.
Jaguar de-tuned the car a lot. Just from a ecu upgrade/chip you pick up 30 hp and 80 tq to the wheels. The cars do around 350-360 whp stock.
