Forgot to mention; I put on Mina Galleries Porsche style tips (double pipe). They do a very good job filling the exhaust cutout and give the "all business" look.

MIJ Performance did the remap an ECU flash first time but in for a custom tune on the dyno this week. Because the cats flow so much better especially with the x pipe and sports mufflers its throwing the ECL. Cats made a massive difference but then I was having problems with the old ones Will post the dyno results later this week. Pulley is a 2.5 by the way

stypernut, A 1.5 pulley is being delivered. I know the 2.5 needs the blowers nose shaved but does it also present with a continuous blower whine too. I do mostly highway commuting. Will I be annoyed by a persistant blower whine if doing a 2.5 pulley?

2.5 is ok but whine kicks in sooner which is cool

I'll take some pics of the Mina Exhaust S/S Porsche style exhaust tips. Any tips on how to get them on to the forum? I was hesitant at first to change the 3 " tips. The fact that Mercedes Benze uses dual pipe tips on their Kompressor cars to denote form their none-blown cars romanced me to announce my Jag as a Blown Jag! The Porsche style tips fill the entire valence exhaust cut outs and look too cool; and that they belonged there from the get-go.

If you do an advanced reply at the bottom it should have a place to attach pics to your post just upload them using the interface that pops up when you click manage attachments and they will be in your post.

Nothing better than one big exhaust tip. two just does nothing for me IMHO, sorry...just my 2 cents.

Vance580, I'm mulling over wether to do the 1.5 or the 2.5 pulley. I'll let u know. Mina galleries sold it to me for $175. MyBlackcat, I went through two sets of single 3" tips because I feel the same as you: "Nothing better than one big pipe exhaust tip", but the single pipe tips eventually didn't satisfy "me" to fill up that valence exhaust cut-out. I'll post pics of the Porsche style tips (thanks vance580 for instructions of pics upload).

...After doing this did you notice any difference in MPG? Overall was it worth doing? I thought about it doing this before but wasn't sure until I came across this Post on the topic. By the way do I have to remove the air filter completely to get to the baffle flap to unscrew it? Whats the best way to remove the Air filter and to put it back without breaking something,lolz...I know some ppl had trouble putting it back

you should not have an issue on removing the air filter to get to the baffle....

I did both ways, but with my lead foot from the crisper throttle and the growl, it dropped drastically.

I just discovered clogged cats on my 4.0 so type and was thinking of extendingc the wires on my o2 sensors and putting magnaflow cats where the resonators sit and straightpiping the current cat location. Can anyone think of a reason this wont work?

You don't want to place the cats too far down stream from the heating capabilities of the engine. The ECU expects certain emission values from the O2 sensors thus may set off a CEL and poor fuel metering. You can place the hi-flow carts approx. 10" down from where they are, against the sloping part of the flloor boards, where the persons feet would rest. This won't necessitate lengthening the O2 wires. You have a normally aspirated 4.0. The set-up you describe will certainly kill your low end torque but make a lot of noise, if that's what yer after? You'll love the sweet sound and throttle response you're stock system will make with the hi-flow cats...two different worlds. Put the hi-flow cats on where I described then work from there. I "messed", and still mess with my STR's exhaust. This is an eerie thread for me cause our good forum friend "Riski" was in this world then. RIP Joe.

Thats Riski's car and I believe it had an X and magnaflow mufflers. He was running the stock cats and redid the piping to 2.5 from the cats back. Also the resonator was removed.
