Default The Final S-Type

Received the following email:

Dear Sir

I am sorry for the delay in replying

The final S-type has Vin number SAJ AC03R081 N91220

Kind regards,

So, according to the VIN decoder, the last S-Type was a 2008, right hand drive STR, meeting ECS 15 emissions, marketed in the "Rest of World".

Anybody down in OZ or NZ know about that car?

>I have it as GB

Possibly, the VIN decode list shows the 4th character as "Market&Airbag Spec". And, for those that haven't seen it, it only lists Canada, USA, Japan, and Mexico as specific countries.

When looking I must have just assumed that there would be code for Great Britain, but you're right there isn't one.

So how do you Brits feel about being considered "Rest of World" by Jaguar no less...

I think you're misunderstanding it. I believe it means "not one of the ones that need a separate designation". (E.g. the USA has airbags that deploy harder I gather, as there's an assumption that seat belts may not be worn?)

By the time you take into account the various other info you've not many places it could be other than UK. (And the data I have shows N91220 was GB. May be in the museum.)

Sure, was just having a bit of fun.

What data do you access, wondering how you know it's GB and not some other place that drives on the wrong side (opps, there I go having fun again... ;-) like OZ and NZ?

Looking for information on the Satin Editions. I found this link that states that the last 750 S-Types are the Satin Editions, is this true?
2008 Jaguar S-Type Review (newcartestdrive.com)
My car is over 2000 cars before the last one, please see my post yesterday.
How can I verify my is A Satin Edition?

Well I can give you a check list:

Firstly the Satin Editions were ony for 3.0 and 4.2 cars. (Not the STR or diesel.)

Matt Satin Mahogany veneers in the dash and doors.
Leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Chrome/leather shift knob.
They were only available in the following body colours: Ebony, Liquid Silver, Lunar Grey, Radiance and Porcelain
The interior trim was one of the two following colours: Champagne with Mocha or Charcoal with Charcoal.

However owners could change some of the above with no extra cost, but the matt wood veneers are the best indication as these were not used in other cars unless the owners paid a aditional cost.

i think you have more jaguar info at your disposal than jaguar itself. Probably by memory too. Excellent

Jaguar tends to keep all the first and last off the lines, most of them at the British heritage museum.
The final s-type is at the British heritage museum, seen it there loads of times, great selection of cars.

Have a look here https://www.jaguarheritage.com/car/2...jaguar-s-type/

Cheers
Joe

P.S.

I think they did, at least as an option.

I posted brochures and links to brochures a while back which may well show for sure.

Hi
Just had a look in the brochures, looks like it was never a option either for the S-type R
why you would want them is another thing, think chrome looks terrible on modern cars, very old fashioned
so glad there very little chrome on the inside as well
think the older generation like chrome more as they were brought up with it on many cars
cheers

Not something I'd want but I think it may be what they described as "Bright exterior" mirror trim etc in the brochure.
