Default First big repair bill

Bought lately second-hand S-Type R. Soon after, it started to show real Jaguar character. Cold start was bad, tended to leave RPM-s too low. Almost always, after driving it one mile, it swiched to "limp home" model. regardless of accelerator pedal ran at 10 mph. Almos all fault lights lin, engine management fault, handbreak fault etc error messages came on lcd. After short pause, ignition off, it stared ok and drove well always. Weird!

Took it to service they called back today that throttle flap is faulty. U$ 1000+ bill. Hope their diagnose was right.

Hope, that it is so. I Googled and found, that this is quite ordinary flaw. Sometimes cureable by spraying CRC Throttle cleaning spray, sometimes recurring. Hope, that my repair cost is not useless...

What is the throttle flap? Why is it so expensive to repair (besides being a Jag)?

Throttle flap most probably is sold as throttle body assembly with position sensor and everything.
