Yep, no question that if Geico had it all to do over again, they would have preferred to total the car. But I'm glad it worked out the way it did. I have so many new parts up front that I chuckle every time I open the hood. My biggest concern was suspension and alignment. But there have been no problems other than the misfires that began occuring about a month after repairs were completed. Turned out they missed the fact that the air filter box had been cracked in the accident, so they opened up a supplemental claim and replaced it along with a new mass air flow sensor. No more misfires since then. Plus, I replaced the faulty IMT O-rings back in mid-January only a week or so after first detecting a small oil leak on the lower one as always happens, and things have been great ever since. While I haven't yet determined if we'll keep this car for the long run, it is looking better all the time....

...made a whole lot of new friends this week. So far an MD, Dentist, Chiropractor, Therapist, Adjuster, two levels of X-Ray technicians and on it goes ad infinitum, ad nauseum.
Tear down on the STR begins Monday with an estimate currently at roughly 10K which may change upwards.
Who knows what all my new friends will cost plus...

...just left the body shop - all new panels installed - all new OEM parts. It took five weeks to round up all the new OEM parts. Jaysus what a pain in the ***. In two weeks I have four teeth replaced and ongoing therapy for neck & shoulder injuries.
The insurance company so far has been stellar and haven't seen the need for a legal mouthpiece. My dogs have about eaten the rental car.
The final tab for the repair will exceed 10K. Then my friggin' bill...

Best wishes with the repairs to your car as well as to you. Drive the car thoroughly for at least a couple of months before you decide whether or not you're satisfied. Hope your situation goes as well as ours did last year. It's been nearly nine months since our S-Type was plowed and all is now well. Took awhile to shake everything out, but that is to be expected these days....

...picked up the car on Friday afternoon. It took 51 days to repair and $17,722.08. The car rental cost $1,729.02. The body shop did an amazing job with all OEM parts and full panel paint spray with no start or end tape marks.
Spent Saturday morning completely detailing the car and hit the road for a 250mi cruise. Simply outstanding throwing caution to the wind about mid point and put the wood to her. I'm still dealing with medical/dental issues but on the mend.

Remember - no wax on that new paint for at least 60 days....
Your nearly $18,000 in repair costs easily beats my nearly $13,000 from last year's debacle. It's still a mystery to me why the insurance companies don't go ahead and total these cars with that much damage. Ours came up about $500 short of the threshold for totalling, but yours easily exceeded it. Perhaps the rules are different there in Canada....

I had them take out the back window to seam in the quarter panel into the C pillar and paint the entire roof, both quarters and one door. After the body work was completed they removed all the parts and hung them for painting. They broke the rear window removing but they replaced it with all new seals.
The insurance company adjuster and body shop have been great to deal with. The estimator was a **** dipsh*t who hung himself with his own rope. Hence, the ultimate big repair bill. Funny how that works out...
