Default first polish of the year....

finally got a break in the weather, so gave the motor its first polish of the year...more to do yet, but feel better now i've been able to tidy up a bit....trying to bring out the pearlescent finish in the paint!...not bad for her age!

Nicely done, what sort of polisher did you use? (orbital, dual action, rotary, etc)
What products, compounds or wax did you apply?

I did the STR last year, and I have to say, polishing the jag's paint was a real pleasure, GREAT factory paint to work with, I did a very comprehensive job of clay bar, 2-stage menzerna compound polish with a rotary buffer, topped off with a zaino application (wax).

I have to say the results were stunning, very deep looking, and glass smooth with ZERO swirl marks or haze in the most direct light/angle, simply mirror finish, god... excuse the rant, but man, I LOVE the jag's factory paint, so much better than other manufacturers top coats...

somewhere along the polishing,

I do it all by hand, always have (good work out!)

I swear by meguiars polish...

first i wash the car in meguiars NXT shampoo, then i use their 3 stage system. The paint cleaner applied and buffed, then the polish and then the wax...takes a LONG time and the paint was pretty badly swirled (last owners must have used car washers all the time) but using this system has really brought out the colour.

Still needs some more work and the odd touch up, but all in all i'm happy.

For applying the polish i use a meguiars sponge applicator pad and then buff with a polishing cloth.

Next job is to get the wheels sorted (front trims are badly damaged - again the previous owner) which i think is causing a humming noise when driving (checked the bearings and all fine, swapped the tyres, still got the noise, so last thing to try - its badly bent out and will be catching air)

You are right, the jags paint is nice. I've owned Fords in the past and they always had really nice paint finishes and good colours, so since ford owned Jag it may well because of them??

Beg to differ with you chap... I'm the first "Polish of the year". You're likely the first "Irish of the year".

LOL, jpvd, now I think you're really confused... bfsgross meant hes the first 'polish' of the year, as in, first polak (hails from poland), of the year. Conversely, you would be the first 'irish' of the year... get it? Being in the UK I'm sure you're familiar with the folk hailing from the east in recent years!

Kurwa mać!
