First Road Trip
Just finished our first road trip in my 2007 S Type 3.0. Did 967 miles. Averaged 27.5 mpg cruising @ 70 mph. Car handled beautifully, plenty of passing power and nice comfortable ride. I always felt in control even when I took the Jag up to 90. It still felt solid in fact the faster I went the better the road feel. Wife didn't realize I was driving so fast until we flew by a Vette!
The best part was all the looks I got from bimmer & merc owners!

Thanks Ken! At the risk of sounding like a pompous *** I'm really enjoying all the stares of envy I get from other luxury car owners. There's a couple S Types around, but none in BRG.
It truly is unique & distinctive and a joy to drive. Best of all because most drivers don't know much about Jags they think it's a new car.

What keeps both my feet firmly planted in reality is the knowledge that, were they the brand new models people first believe, I would never have been able to afford either in the first place!
IMHO, this is what classic styling, "brand recognition" and future collectible value, are all about. Judged by today's standards, the E-Type is an absolute dog of a car. I know . . . from 37yrs of day-to-day ownership. Yet, despite this, and some 55yrs after its debut, it is still arguably, the most readily recognized and respected car ever made. Enzo Ferrari famously said so!
So . . . Pete . . . enjoy those grand tours in your beautiful Jaguar . . . and keep on posting that enthusiasm so many of us enjoy.
Cheers,
Ken

I know the posters feelings, I just got the 2008 s type as a companion to the 2004 XK8. We took a 300 mile trip last weekend and I just loved how I put on some nice blues music and was able to chat with my passengers and hear the stereo. We just got back from a 2500 mile trip to Myrtle Beach a few weeks ago driving the 2004 convertible, and I love that trip. Going to have to flip to see which car to take next year.
I work in an automotive parts supply company here in Canada and so have some workmates who are car people. Many think it is a new car. I hardly ever leave work and don't see someone looking in the car. It is black with the ivory interior with black piping, the leather and wood are like new. Little do they know it is one of the bargain priced cars in the lot.

I have to admit I'm a little jealous of all the nice Jags you guys own, ( XKE, XK, etc.) Maybe next year I'll add an XK. The only problem, well two actually is getting my wife's Ok & fitting into an XK. I'm 6'3" & at 70 yrs old not as flexible as I once was.
Maybe I'll move up to an XJR. I do agree that in terms of future classic/investment the S Type is the definitive Jaguar & the last model that truly carry on the great Jaguar look & style.
Also thanks Ken for the idea for a vanity plate. I'm thinking something like Papas Jag, but I like the 07 Jag too.

Glad you're enjoying your car PapasJag!
Unfortunately these cars in my area are sometimes referred to as ghetto mobiles, S & X Types both ( or an old person's car)If it isn't a new XF or an F Pace, its not looked upon well, but who cares...
Or, "they're not real Jags, thats a Ford!"
So with that mentality, then a new Jag is really just a Tata.....
