Default fitting front fog/spot lamps

Hi just recently fitted front fog/spot lamps to my 2000 3.0 S type
my car never came with this option so had blank plates all the wiring was present
so I thought it would be a simple fit
the lights are all fitted and connected but theres no power to the front fog lights when you pull the headlight switch out checked all the connections and fuses im stumped at the minute as anyone had previous experience with this problem thanks

The fog light wires you found in the car probably doesn't have a fuse. If the car did not have factory fog lights I don't see why they would put a fuse in the car for the fog lights.

They're little to no use in fog but good as a fashion accessory at all other times.

I disagree. All three of our vehicles came equipped with factory fog lights. They can indeed be beneficial in light-to-medium fog conditions. But in heavy fog there's unfortunately not much you can do to improve visibility other than to stay home and wait for the fog to lift....

The front and/or rear fog lamps do NOT automatically come 'on' with the headlamp switch.

There is a separate switch for the fog light functions.
Is your car fitted with the front/rear fog lamp switch?????

Maybe for you but on Britain's crowded roads, many of which are well lit, they're more nuisance than aid. The OP looks to live over here.

To add to motorcarman - the fog lights activate on the light switch. On the switch panel you should see the sign for front/rear fog lamps.

You turn on the switch to headlights and then pull the knob out to turn on the front fog lights and then another right click of the knob (that is now out) to turn on the rear fog lamps.

If your switch does not do this you need to source a switch that has the fog light option.

Completely different on my STR - there's a separate switch for each of front & rear fogs - see handbook. Probably changed with car redesign at VIN M45254.

Hi JagV8 - the OP has a 2000 MY S Type (not to confuse the OP - your 100% correct the fog lamps have separate switches on 03 MY's and up) 2000 - 2002 the fog lamps are operated via the headlamp switch.

Default 2000 jaguar s type 3.0 manual

My 2000 s type manual
has only one switch for the lights and fog lamp function, as it never had front fogs I decided to upgrade it as I got the lights for nothing and they mount straight in the bumper jaguar had pre installed the wiring so a easy fit
then no power to the front fog lamps i found that the switch is different so I fitted another light switch with the extra function for front fogs although it looks just the same it was a matter of plug in and everything works as if it left the factory
