Default fluid pressure solenoid C - Code P0795

Hello there...

I'm new here...and I'm not sure if I'm posting on the correct thread...(if I'm not...my apologies!) but I need a bit of help here...

We (my step dad and I) scanned my car...and it detected code P0795...so the dash board started showing "Transmission Fault"...I looked up the code P0795...and noticed it said fluid pressure solenoid C...that was about 2 weeks ago...so I really haven't driven the car...and today...it now shows..."Fail Safe Engine Mode"...I'm ready to take it in to this place down my street...

I guess my question is...

How much do you guys/gals think I'm looking at ($$$$$)??

I just want to kinda' have an idea...

Thanks in advance!

you should replace that solenoid, and change fluid along with it. Cross your fingers, if that doesnt work youll need at the least a rebuilt transmission valve body, or trans rebuild. Go to a tranny shop, not a mechanic shop, avoid the trans rebuild which is what they will try to push, not a bad idea but if youre willing to try replacing the solenoid first... you may end up at the end after taking steps along the way, or may be done with fluid and solenoid.

Hello!

Okay so today I took it to this one transmission place down my street...they scanned it and it was pretty much the same thing I came up with...so any who, he's going to replace the solenoids and change fluid...all together $520.00

Here's my funny/stupid question...
(sorry by hubby usually takes care of all this stuff but he's not even around at this time to make a decision and I probably won't hear from him till Saturday)...

Once I pick up the car tomorrow...and pay him $520...am I suppose to give him a trip?? How does this work??

i would say may have a few pizzas delivered the following day, much better than gving someone money sometimes. Or drop off a gift card for say a local restaurant. Make sure your car is fixed before giving anything though. Just an idea for you.

Default Bad news!

Thanks everyone...

BAD NEWS...

So I went by to pick up my car...and he said he replaced the solenoid(s)...it was a big piece...(I'll try to figure out how to post pictures of the piece on my page)...any who, the guy said he replaced it and did the transmission oil too...but that the band for 4 and 5 gear is burning out...(I have no idea what he's talking about)...he removed the check engine light off...but "Transmission Fault" still comes up......now...20 minutes ago...I went to the gas station and the engine light came back up again...OMG!! I'm so frustrated!!! $520...and nothing!!!!! THIS SUCKS!!! he said...if I decided to return with him to fix the bands...I'm looking at about $1,800......

What the hell???

So now what???

what's my next step?

WELL LIKE I said its a chance, you may end up rebuilding the trans in the end. But I can tell you if he said he would rebuild the trans for $1800. Thats a hell of a deal. If he only wants to replace the 4, 5 band, pass you dont open a trans to replace 1 part(valvebody and or solenoids is different, you only drop the pan for that not remove the trans.) But also you cannot see the band with the valvebody and pan removed. its inside the trans. the gear box fault and the check enigne light are 1 in the same in your case. not 2 seperate issues. the trans fault light comes on, then the ck engine light to let you know there is a code/codes stored. And when pulling codes youll find they relate to the trans.
So I would have him rebuild the transmission with new parts and you should need no hard parts(cost extra) only expendable items, seals, clutches, bands, etc...A rebuild kit containing all the expendable items like that costs in the range of $300-400. Might be more since its been over 10years since Ive rebuilt transmissions
