Default FOB' d Off

Helllo,
My 03 STR had a single key when I bought it. The remote did not work so I replaced the battery, still no remote. Between other manitinance issues it was off to the Jaguar Dealer for a second key and remote.
Cutting a second key was $175.00 !!! But what can you do with out a key?
The nice folks at the dealer said replacement remote was only $475.00, had to pass on that. Are the remotes on ebay a replacement and what about the reprograming.

I assume you mean that when you replaced the battery on the old remote it still would not work. It may just need reprograming from the dealer; did they look at the old remote? Ebay was definately the cheapest for me. Forget the dealer! I found one uncut ie new/blank. Took it to my local locksmith to cut and then asked my friendly dealer to program it when I had the car in for an oil change. They did it for free. Total cost was about $120. Good luck.

They can't reprogram it unless you buy a second...apart from using Brutal's ghost-key-wrapped-in-foil trick, which many dealers apparently don't know or are unwilling to do.

JYA...oughtta take the svc. mgr at your dealer a six-pack...think that's normally a near $200 charge....

Phil, chances are it may come back to life when programmed. I bought an 03 with one key and a dysfunctional fob...and it came back to life after programming...so it's possible, though not guaranteed.
