First I would like to think joycesjag for the awesome write up and everybody else that give me advise.... Yesterday afternoon i started working on project P1549 (bottom IMT to clear thing up on which IMT the ob scanner code referring to) it took me about 20min to reach both IMT. When take out both IMT I notice the both had the new green O-rings, so i started lookin for other problems and i notice that the bottom IMT connector one of the wire were ripped off. Due to lack of supply (please don't Judge) i connected the wire with an extra electrical wire an tape one end and stuck the other end to the metal rod of IMT connector an tape it with electrical. I did't bother to replace the o-rings, an i put back everything together. i Drove the car last night now i'm i gonna run to autozone in the morning see if the clear the IMT code 1549. if this work, i will only have to worry about one more obd scanner code P1646 HO2 Sensor control. ill let yall know of the out come later this afternoon.

Look here for checking it, btw there are 2 IMT valves. Within this link there is another link for replacing the IMT O-rings.

The P1646
is stating that the upper H02 sensor is failing, it might be caused by the faulty IMT valve. I would get the IMT vavle checked out and then see if the P1646 code clears.

The HO2 sensor is located beneath the vehicle and above the Catalytic Converter on the exhaust pipe manifold side.
Hi again, I Just brought the Ho2 sensor can you please tell me by looking a the pictures which side is the sensor located on the motor that throwing the check eng code P1646

Don't know the engine well but I can say you have Left & Right swapped in pic #1.

All directions are as if standing behind the car looking forwards.

cel,

Your passenger side is the right side as JagV8 mentioned. Pic 2 and 3 would be the sensor that is supposedly bad.

Make sure you look them up in the codes PDF as that explains them.

Sounds so far like you replaced the wrong sensor or with the wrong kind but as I say read the PDF.

edit: I see you posted this before here https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...urchase-68490/

(not sure you're helping yourself by reposting)

Get JTIS. Look at its codes PDF for your car. It explains P1000 in detail.

Also explains the ways P1646 can occur. Did you check all of those yet?

The wiring may be awkard to do but you don't want to assume the worst!

As you have found out just throwing parts at it does not work too well. Do some searches on this forum. The V-6 has a list of known problems. But the good thing the cost to fix is not bad if you can DIY.

Otherwise owning a Jaguar can get pretty expensive!!
