Default Fuel computer data problem

Well after a fun eleven days of ownership problem number one has come up LOL!

Went to dinner tonight after a long day of the track (nhra is in ga this weekend) and drive the jag. She drove like a dream as always. Go to leave and start the car, I have a fuel computer data error on the screen, an oil light, the fuel gauge isn't working and the blinkers are flashing very fast on the dash but nornmall on the car. It drove fine the 10miles or so back to the track.

I searched and found a few post on this but no ideas other then computer hard reset. The battery is new less then a year old? Any ideas of where to start?

I sure hope I am not repeating the English electroinc disasters I had with my Lotus. I am going to hear a lot of I told you so's LOL.

Thanks for any help guys!

Jim

Has all the earmarks of a weak battery which you've already noted. Since you've only had it 11 days, what sort of fidelity do you have on the battery's age? Looked at it? Made sure seller didn't swap the old one back in before delivery. Not being accusitory, just noting some possibilities. A load test frequently won't indicate a problem that is subsequently solved by a new battery. Nonetheless, I'd check it is the proper type and capacity and have a test run.

On the mobile version so had to do a bit of searching to learn you had an s-type. Sine you have to dig into the boot anyway (check those post connections too) have a look for water intrusion. Some module back there can get wet and cause a light show.

My car info should be in the sig, I am posting mobil so maybe it dosnt come up? It's an 03 STR.

I know the battery age trough the detailed records the previous owner keep and the date stamp on the bat. I thought of that first thing with many issues all at once. I tested it last night and voltage is fine static, and at load.

This morn I fired to car up to move it out of the pits and eerything is fine. No lights, coeds, blinkers fine just like it never happend?

Guess we will see on the ride home tonight how it runs? Odd!

Btw also no trunk leak it's dry as a bone and all the connections look good as the day it was built. Haven't checked body earth grounds yet, I will tomorrow.

Your (hidden) problem could easily be down to the battery, no matter how good it checks out, no matter how new someone says it is, no matter how good the terminals are.
Moderate sulphation inside the battery (the growing of hard lead sulphate crystals on the lead plate) can produce a condition where car electronics go haywire intermittently without obvious rhyme or reason and without warning. The giveaway is a lot of UNRELATED errorcodes.
Probably the easiest way for you is to fix another battery in parallel with the existing battery with jump leads which is dead easy in the Jag. boot. Prop it up with concrete blocks so you can drive around with it attached for a few days or weeks to see if the problem comes back.
Caution: Under no circumstances get the leads crossed. You will end up with more problems than you have now. A lot more.
Leedsman.
p.s. Also check my "Filter Capacitor" posting which has more on this one.

Drove the 40 or so miles back home just fine last night. Stoped for gas car off and back on nothing. Just like it never happened.

Guess I will chalk it up to Ecu brain fart unless I see it again. If I do see it again I will swap the bat out.
