Default Fuel Tank Gauge Float Level

2001 Jaguar S Type 3.0 V6

HI guys, the mechanic changed the fuel pump (the inside part and filter, not the casing), in the Dominican Republic don't sale the complete unit and the case of my S Type is in good shape.

He told me 3 days ago that the Fuel Tank Gauge Float Level is not working on the fuel pump and can't find it in the DR, try to search on eBay and couldn't find one for a 2001 S Type. I have found one for a 2003 - 2005 S Type but don't know if it would fit.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fits-2003-2005-Jaguar-S-Type-Fuel-Level-Sending-Unit-Right-Genuine-27145SP-2004/292747388172

Also search for one on the 2001 Lincoln Ls, but I don't know if the Lincoln one will be the same as the Jaguar one, it's the same year.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-2000-2005-Lincoln-LS-Fuel-Tank-Sender-Assembly-Motorcraft-61899WF-2003-2001/184590328129

Any help on this

By your vin this is the part you need.
XR858832. The 2003 to 2005 model will not fit. Cross the part number i gave over if you can or search the web for it. The sender for the lincoln can be crossed over to check

From what I can see, that part number is for the entire assembly, I just need the level arm part, like the one in the two links from ebay from the first post. But thanks for the help.

If I don't find the level arm only I think I will have to buy the entire fuel pump assembly just to get the level arm

Welcome to the world of European car ownership. You will often find individual sub-components are not available separately, just the entire assembly. I've run into the same issue with things like the radiator fan. Only the motor wears out, but you have to purchase the entire shroud assembly, complete with a new fan blade, etc.

US vehicles? It's usually a different story. Take my whining about the radiator fan, for example. I compared a Jaguar with a Ford Taurus of the same year. A Ford radiator fan motor is only about $45, and is readily available from many sources. No such luck with Jaguar.

Supposedly the US has a law dating back to the 60s, concerning replacement parts. Prior to that, the OEMs tried to steer you towards purchasing a new car by not offering much in the way of replacement parts for older models. In theory, the law took care of that, and specified that parts be available for X amount of years. From what I understand, the European sales model is still like the older US version. They get around the intent of the US law by only offering complete assemblies ($$$) for many things, when all you needed was a fairly inexpensive sub-component.

The aftermarket helps, but obviously not everything is covered, such as your fuel quantity sender. One positive example is stuff like suspension ball joints. Want an OEM fix? You'd have to buy a complete arm assembly just to get new ball joints, but you can get the individual pieces in the aftermarket.

Realizing that lol

I owned a 1998 Pontiac Sunfire 2.4 Twincam and a 2008 Ford Escape 2.5 L 4wd (no longer with me). Now I own a 2014 Ford Escape and my dad's Jag.
