fuel pressure at idle and running..help

Still having some problems with my 2000 4.0 s-type. I thought everything was great once I replaced the fuel pump. But it just didn't run right. So I checked the fuel pressure and it read 32psi. At idle that seems awfully low. My corvette runs around 55psi at idle If I remember right.
So the question is does anybody know what it should be running at idle and shouldn't the fuel pressure go up to some degree as the rpm increases. I bought the pump at autozone ( I know wrong decision )and they say that 32psi is what it should be. I'm positive that this is wrong...so any help would be appreciated.
BTW autozone refuses to replace the pump because they say its working fine

32 psi will not cut it. You should have between 40 - 42 psi at idle.
Did you change out the fuel filter at the same time when the fuel pump was changed? If not, I would start there.
Also, there is also a jet pump on the driver's side of the car. This may be an issue too but doubt it. Make sure you have at least 10.5V going to the fuel pump - any less voltage and the pump won't work correctly.
Thanks
