Fuel Pump died...
MY 2000 Stype 3.0 134,000 miles
So I thought I would share my experience this week. I looked at other threads and I didn't locate some laymans information for this issue.
Symptoms: Car wouldn't turnover but had significant charge and she wanted to but wasn't getting enough or any gas.
I was out of town and away from my local mechanic. AAA towed my car to a AAA service center. I wanted it to go anywhere but the Jag dealership.
They identified the issue as a failed fuel pump.
Important to know is that the fuel pump is located under the backseat on the passenger side. This is a very easy fix and only caused a 1 hour labor charge. It probably took less than 20 mins.
The dealer wanted $900 for the part. I found one at Pep Boys for $305. After a fuel induction cleaning and a fuel filter change. I got out of there for $707.

Also, you mention a fuel system cleaning... Did they change the fuel filter or leave the old one on? If the latter - I strongly recommend you get that done ASAP...

I found that part originally but that added 3 hours worth of labor at the service center, so it was cost affective to get the part with only 1 hour of labor. Yes, I did get the filter changed as well. I was standing right in front of the girl searching for parts. I know I was driving her nuts but at the end of the day, its my wallet!
