Fuel rail codes and knock

Greetings all!
I've had a bit of a time with my STR. The fuel rail pressure sensor has been on the fritz for a while now. It hasn't seemed to affect drivability. However,
a few days ago I started getting knocking after the car warmed up. I feared that I was developing a rod knock. After spending a few hours on my back, I have determined the cause to be a bad fuel pump. The knocking is coming from the passenger side of the gas tank.
My question is this........
I have seen on other S-types that one can replace the fuel pump cartridge with an E2226 pump cartridge (for lack of a better term)
Does this also apply to the STR? Id really rather just swap the cartridge for $15 then spend several hundred on a whole new assembly.
Thank you in advance.
