Default Fuel Tank gauge only reading half.

I got very low on fuel and pulled into Shell and put in 17.38 gallons of fuel. When I restarted the engine the fuel gauge only goes about half way up. It has always worked fine until today. Has anyone experienced this and what did you do to make it work again? Thanks for any info.

I guess the float or whatever is in that tank must have gotten stuck. Tonight is working fine....Fire drill over for now.

Had similar happen on the 03 a time or two. It returned to normal after a day or so. You might try a can of BG44 in it.

I went to 3 parts stores here and they did not have the 44. I opted for CRC's best product as a subsitute. They gave me 50% off because no one wants to pay that much for tank cleaner ($25.95). Out the door for $13 at NAPA. Right now everything is back to normal and this should clean up any deposits that made the float stick.

Reportedly can be had from dealerships and repair shops, only. I bought it from Amazon.
