Ahhh.....After 495K in Porsche I decided to return to the 'brand', my first car was a 1957 XK140DHC.....picked up a one owner, dealer serviced since new, all records and receipts, new dealer installed trans, complete dealer 'check out' 111K miles, very clean car......In several days I've had it I'v only driven it 94 miles. Nice ride. So, this morning, fun day out of town planned, fire up the STR....full tank, toys in and loaded, friend off to meet at the agreed place, pull out the STR and park it in front of the door for a 'get ready' In and out of the front door a couple of times......fire up the Ride......stuck in Park......97 miles of trouble free driving, tickets bought, loaded up car.......stuck in park.....wow.....you know it's all comming back to me now why I switched to Porsche.....495K miles (3 cars) never, ever has this happened.......:-(((((....
Over to buy/borrow some under the wheel lift/dollies to slide this 'Jewel' out 'da' way so I can pull out the 911 and turn the day into something that doesn't involve a wrench and a blown day off. Too much.
Read all of the 'stuck in park' 'stuck on a hill' etc. forum's......very informative but to no avail. I thought I'd 'done my home work' I guess not. Oh well better here than 86 miles from Mi Casa....can you say....off to the shop tomorrow?
Porsche...3 different cars, 35 years, 490K+ miles, towed 4 times.
Jaguar STS 1 car, 5 days, 94miles.....towed at least once.
Yes, pretty pi**ed off right about now and more that 'a day late and (I'm sure more than) a dollar short'
So now that I've vented (thanks for the ear) is this something to look forward to? do you Gent's see this kind of thing often? should I cut my loss, get this repaired and 'punt'.....(I can't make plans to travel based on my AAA tow package).....any input? I don't want to only drive this car as far as I can have it towed back to ground zero.
Any input is appreciated.
Signed....not too fr*cking pleased at the moment STR owner/pusher

Car: 2003 STR 111K miles, one owner, dealer serviced since new, new trans 1.5 K ago, full dealer 144 pt inspection before buying. Not 'perfect' but a very nice car.
I've owned this STR less than one week. 97 total miles of my driving with probable no more than 30 engine starts and stops.
This morning, fired it up, drove it from it's parking spot 30 feet, reversed, backed up 10 feet to the shop front door. Loaded with the day's goodies,......fired it up, won't go out of park. Read as many forums as I could find....nada....nothing is changing. Jacked up on wheel jacks, pushed it out of the way, going to drive the (19 years 285K never failed) 911 instead.
Any suggestions? is this a common problem? any suggestions as to the amount of 'Pilot' error that might be involved? if so what?
Tomorrow, Monday, less that a week of jag time and it's call the tow truck, crack out the wallet, off to the jag. shop time.
Thanks for any and all in site, +/- regardless
