Damn since no one wants to touch the vvts codes again. Your most likely issue(especially since you mentioned after oil change) is vvt oil starvation. In other words there is just not enough oil pressure remaining in the oil galleys to "properly" function the vvts. It being lost throughout the engine on bearing clearances that have opened up and bleed off pressure. think of it like this. if you stand a hose up straight with no holes and run water through it it comes out the other end fine. But as you start poking holes in the hose the water on the other ends drops and drops as you create bigger/more leaks in the hose. This is what wearing bearing clearances do. they allow more and more oil pressure to bleed off, not enough to cause oil pressure warnings, especially since the oil pressure sender is down low on the block and early in the oil system by the pump and filter
Try changing to 20-50w oil

Mafioso, thanks, but my understanding is that they are different coils for the V6.
BRUTAL, (again, excuse the lack of knowlege) since my oil was just changed less than 200mi. ago w/full synthetic and filter, is that necessarry NOW, or at the next oil chg? Or, can I get away with adding the lucas synthetic stabilizer to thicken it up?
jagv8, P1788 is "Pressure Control Solenoid "B" Open Circuit". My MIL does however, display "gearbox fault"

I have certainly appreciated and taken into consideration ALL advice/recommendations, so thus far, the jag tech is replacing ALL 3 coils on bank 1 (intake manifold side) with the recommended Bosch coils, and ALL the plugs with the NGK iridium’s vice Autolite platinum, new O-rings, gaskets, and then vacuum tubes, PCV as needed/once they remove manifold.
For the P1788 (Pressure Control Solenoid "B" Open Circuit) he said he can go in, and replace the spring for about a grand, but wants to wait until 1st set of problems corrected/cleared to see if it comes back...I don’t know, but I do trust the guys ability, and it seems to make sense to me…

my suggestion would be to find a good local mechanic who won't charge you $120 an hour like the jag dealerships. their advice is to replace everything. i found a local european car specialist who took apart both banks and replaced coils, plugs etc., he also agreed, and as we found out there were a few after market coils that seemed to be failing, if you do go after market find an OEM part, or most local parts stores sell jag parts (many similar to the lincoln ls, and some common to other ford cars), still certain things you have to get from the dealer unfortunately.
i would suggest this website, their coils and parts are legit, i know first hand, also got parts of the suspension here as well....they are the cheapest i've found...

if you can find a reliable local mechanic, they would probably be much more willing to use parts that you request, however without guarantees...

On the TSB the only thing they could change/done wrong, is wether the engine number is in a given range which gives a more agressive software change...dont ask me what I didnt write the software.
no I didnt say a p1788 shift solenoid could be fixed by changing the engine oil its a trans valve body issue. I would change that solenoid in the valve block , the fluid and filter or keep on going.
95%(a number I pull from behind me, but none the less close) of VVT faults now days are oil supply related.

But in this he says he has no VVT codes so they must be gone:

jagv8/Brutal, the car is still with the tech, and I am (now) not at all certain as to the actual status of the P1388 VVT codes, as he has not actually said what codes were, or, were not showing, he just felt it was particularly important to get the misfire corrected immediately before moving on. The dealer (obviously) did not list or mention it either AFTER the reflash, but in a letter stated that the update they did was "several generations ahead of the S303-09".
Geeze Brutal, I don't believe I had read that in any posts here before now! Perhaps it has been said, but maybe not so plainly, however, I do wish I had that bit of knowledge; “I seriously doubt it is false flagging this late in the game…” before they did it, and just focused on the misfire, etc…Did I just waste $200 on top of everything else, or was it just premature, or, ?!??
None-the-less, I am hoping to get the car back today, but fear I may need to corner the US talcum market, as I have not heard from them today, and that can only mean, ITS GONNA BE PAINFUL!!

HEDGE I TRY NOT TO MAKE PEOPLE FEEL LIKE THEY SPENT MONEY NEEDLESSLY, AND i DONT FEEL YOU DID(MAYBE PREMATURELY) THERE HAS BEEN A ECU/TCM RECALL GOING ON WITH JAGUAR THAT INVOLVES REFLASHING THE ECU AND OR TCM. YOU KNOW THE WINDOWS POPUP THAT SAYS "UPDATES AVAIL, UPDATE NOW?" WELL THATS WHAT YOU GOT, THE LASTEST AND GREATEST SOFTWARE CHANGES TO ADJUST/FIX/MODIFY THE OPERATION AND RUNNING OF YOUR CAR. ITHINK THE $200 WAS STEEP, BUT EVERY DEALER CHARGES DIFFERENT THINGS. DEPENDING ON MARKET, LOCATION ETC... HELL I CANT GO TO 2 OF THE SAME GROCERY STORES AND PAY THE SAME THING ON THE SAME ITEMS.
AS CARS GET OLDER I REALLY TRY TO TALK TO CUSTOMERS AND EXPLAIN WHY AND WHAT SHOULD BE DONE NOW AND THEN LATER. IN A SITUATION LIKE VVT CODES, I WOULD OPT FOR THE OIL VISCOSITY CHANGE. WHY, ITS WORKED MANY TIMES BEFORE(EXPERIANCE) YOU NEED OIL CHANGES, AND ITS CHEAP IN THE OVER SCENARIO OF THE PROBLEM. YOU CAN ALWAYS SPEND MORE LATER...
I MEEN YOU DONT GO TO THE DOCTOR WITH HIGH BLOOD SUGAR AND GET TOLD YOU NEED A NEW PANCREAS.....
YES MISFIRES SHOULD ALWAYS BE FIXED RIGHT AWAY CAUSE THEY CAN TAKE OUT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTORS. aND YES USEALLY THAT TRANS CODE IS A SOLENOID REPLACEMENT FIRST. I HAVE HAD TO INSTALL VALVE BODIES ONCE OR TWICE THOUGH TO FIX SHIFT SOLENOID ISSUES THAT WOULDNT GO AWAY.

EASY Brutal!! I truly meant no disrespect to you (or anyone), nor was I in the least bit upset about what you had to say, or, trying to place any sort of blame…in-fact, I am SINCERELY grateful for the ideas, information (although sometimes a bit above my head), and suggestions, that you, jagv8, Leedsman, and ALL, have generously provided me with to see this through properly, and thereby also giving me a basic understanding necessary in resolving these issues with my jag. The way in which you had explained it had actually made much more sense than what I previously understood! So, perhaps more than anything, my jocularity (due to being overly tightarsed) overshadowed what should have been gratitude and discretion under the circumstance...
