Default gearbox oil cooling

Hi all 4.2 v8
the 2 gearbox pipes that go to the rad,are they for cooling or heating the gearbox oil,?

The answer is 'yes'

It would help heat the transmission fluid in the condition of cold transmission and hot engine (extended stationary engine warm up on a cold winter day) but generally helps cool the fluid by dumping the heat into the radiator.

thanks for that,
the 4.2 lump is going in a mk2,so now i need to plumb the pipes into the mk2 rad,
