Almost back together, but the picture of the twinscrew avos is working on for the STRs gave me an idea....

nice, i just finished putting my STR back together after a 3lb pulley install, among other things,

interesting how much more room there is above the throttlebody with the cowl removed...

think i'm going to have to pull it off myself, as I managed to crack that plastic split-loom-looking hose that goes from the passenger side PCV valve to the back of the throttlebody area...

Taking it all off is a bit more of a pain, but it is worth it in the long run to be able to get to things much easier.

Flat tan, when I cleaned it up to put it back on I couldn't just leave it bare. The aftercoolers will remain silver though, but the rest of the piping will be green.

Working on a rough idle issue right now

Above 2k it is fine, but at idle it sounds like I have a lumpy cam. Time to track down the leak...

Nice - glad you found the problem and it was an easy fix!

So is she all bolted back together and running on the road?

Yup! The additions made seem to be well worth it. I am going to go to the drag strip tonight to see if I am faster than last time. The differences are: 1.5lb pulley, bored TB, Mina CAI, and 3" tubing replacing the factory flatish intake.

I hope it is faster, if not, then that will suck!

So true!! I can admit that the blower is much louder now. Not that it translates into anymore speed, just that I can hear it over the exhaust (which is pretty damn loud itself). I did remove the packing beneath the blower as well.

Hey part of the enjoyment of the car is the overall experience. If it all just came down to speed, well we'd all probably just ride crotch rockets. More blower noise = win!

The pulley should help you some, as well as the straight shot intake setup - nice job on that. Hopefully your track temps/conditions are comparable to whenever you made a baseline run so you can actually see if there is any difference in time. So many variables to control for....but you'll have fun regardless i bet!

I'm thinking you'll have some heat soak with that air filter setup after a run or two though and that particular item itself probably won't add much to the performance mix. These cars are just hot and seem to stay hot a really long time. Maybe I'm wrong, but doing something to isolate that air filter would help in my mind.

Let us know how she does on the track! And keep Pittsburgh in the back of your mind man!

lol thanks! Someone had to pick up and run with it since so many are leaving!

The Mina intake setup sucks plain and simple. It doesn't close off the air intake from sucking in hot air, even after I used a lot of weatherstripping to try to seal it off. The only good thing I have going is the water/meth setup cooling things down.

I am thinking of Pittsburgh, I just have to see if I can get the time off work.
