Default Is this a good deal for a daily driver?

I already have a beast for the track, but I'm looking to get rid of my daily driver for something different. Currently I'm driving a 2006 Saab 9-5, which has proven to be very reliable and inexpensive.

On ebay there is currently a one-owner 2003 STR with 145K for 6K. Seems like a deal to me, but there is no mention of the supercharger lines being replaced or the radiator or water pump being replaced. However, with it being a one-owner car with high miles, I'd expect these things to have been resolved.

Anyway, can you guys take a look and let me know what you think?

If not mentioned then likely not done. Also probably haven't changed transmission oil.

Let me add my $0.02 here... This car recently sold on eBay for $5,100 a few weeks back (which the seller accepted) and the sale must of fell through if it's back on. I've seen it listed as high as $6,300 (looks like he has it lowered to $5,900 OBO. Also this seller (dealer) has a set dealer "prep" fee of $395 which gets added to the selling price, which in my opinion is way too high. (Which is in the fine print) Beware...

I saw the other one on their website, but they have it listed at over 10K.

I want one, but I'm starting to second-guess based on the spaghetti time-bomb that comes with the supercharger. That's the only real drawback it seems. As for price, that's just the price on their website. Personally, I'm looking for a decent daily that's reliable and under 7 grand.

I've considered a few other cars, but I keep getting stuck on the bang-for-the-buck of the STR with navigation, leather, and Brembo's. What's not to like about that combo, right?

If you built that AMG I don't think you will have any problem repairing an STR!

All the AMG has is a tune, but I've done my share of wrenching.

Spend what you are comfortable spending, but I think at that age I would be weary of the supercharger and the transmission. I could be wrong but you never know at that age since you dont know the whole history of the car.

The only value I can add is be sure to understand the cost of tires, brakes, suspension, and other misc pieces that will eventually wear out. If you are okay with the prices and feel comfortable either doing it your self or using a good job, then go for it.

Contact fellow member George Androulakis. He lives in Jersey, has a shop and sells vehicles, one of his specialties now are Jaguars from my understanding. A few months back he had his '03 STR for sale, grey/black, very good shape 100+ well taken care of miles!

If anyone in the North East is thinking about buying a Jaguar I really have to recommend:

Motorcars Incorporated - Used,Jaguar,for,Sale,Trade,sales, cooke,street,in,333,Plainville, Connecticut,Hartford area,Farmington,Valley, Joe,Cusano,III.

I know Dean who drives the fastest XJS in regional autocross events. They are located just west of Hartford CT. The cars they offer for sale are very well sorted out.

Jaguar - it's not an automobile, it's a Motorcar

I Agree, No Better Bang For Your Buck Car Out There. Keep In Mind, They Stopped Using Brembos After '05.

I was after an S type R for quite a while. Those priced right went blindingly quick. The dogs and those overpriced could not be sold. I finally compromised to a 4.2 NA and while it lacks the status of being the ultimate S, am quite pleased.

Have you considered an SRT6? I have a nice one just down the road from you that you may know of.

I've owned two XF SRT6's, one ran 11.6 and the other 11.0 in the 1/4. Both slips are listed on Dragtimes. If yours is the black one on CL, email me what your needing for it. I'll be working in Miramar, FL in 3 weeks and might take you up on the offer.

I'm surprised you don't recognize my username from the XF forum.

We went 'round the Devil's Triangle together. It is a quick car as it had to be to keep up with you and that crowd.

While I will always be a Miamian, I am living in Knoxville. The car is only listed on the Crossfire site and then only a feeler.

Kinda half for sale. I should sell but I like it.

If you want my S, I have an R stashed away I could replace it with if it is around.
