Good times...
I recently got pulled over by a Dallas, TX County Highway Patrol going 145mph in a 60mph zone at 1am. By recently I mean 2 hours ago. Given it was 1am on a Tuesday morning there were no cars on the road and no immediate danger to myself or others (This is a Jaguar, not a BMW of course :P ). The Patrolman then ASKED me if he could take my car for a ride instead of issuing me a citation. Here, 20mph over the speed limit means you HAVE to go to court and HAVE to get the car towed to impound. This is a minimum $600.00 fine + impound fees. So of course I said "Sure officer". He came back after 20 minutes and pulled up in front of his Ford cruiser (lights flashing the whole time I waited) and thanked me for the good time. I didn't even get a warning from him. The highway patrolman just said "Be careful out there." and handed me the key.
God bless the S-Type 4.2.
Cheers,
Bal.

RE: Good times...
I think he was for real. We have a Texas DPS trooper than lives 2 houses down and he had a Cop Camero for a couple of years. We live near plenty of dirt roads and he took me for a "ride" one Saturday morning. I had a Camero at the time and thought I knew speed. He went from a dead stop to 90mph in seconds and I can imagine what riding the Shuttle is like now.
While we we going 130 straight ahead, he told me, he became a cop, because of all the contact he had with them getting speeding tickets in high school. Damn smooth ride, I'll tell you!

Yeah, this will be the 5th time I've been pulled over in Dallas county and gotten out of a ticket. First time in the S-Type though. Also, first time the cop asked to take my car for a ride.
My last Jag was a 1986 XJS v12 with gold trim and a custom steering wheel made by Jaguar for Lionel Richie of the Commodores. Everytime I was pulled over in that the officers always seemed to forget why they pulled me over in the first place and ask lots of questions about the car. Sadly that slick cat met her demise racing a Porsche, engine blew and I lost steering control flipping it into a ditch. With Jaguar it's not just a car, it's the memories that go along with it...repair bills too

That is awesome! Last ticket I got was from a Plano, TXcop. A new road that has a nice straight with a gentel curve at the end. I was flying down the road and fortunely slowed down becuase I saw a car stopping ahead. I got tagged at 50 in a 35. Would have been 70!
Nothing compared to the spped you were going! Glad to hear you got off!

I love that! I have never...ever....talked my way out of a ticket. Never! Hopefully driving a Jag will make a difference.
If you want to avoid a ticket go to law school. Works for me, they usually start babbling all over themselves when I start asking for business cards with badge numbers, speedometer calibration reports, and radar printouts. #1 is to never ever say your sorry, never admit guilt or your f*cked, #2 always remember to advise the officer that you were going a speed which was safe for the conditions present on the road (you were not putting anyone at risk), and #3 always make the officer prove that he caught you on radar by asking for a printout. Remember guys police officers have an average of 2 years college education and most of them do not know how much power they actually yield until they land in court in-front of a judge.
