Hello, I feel for you as this happened to me about 3 months ago. I have a 2001 XKR Jaguar, it was in almost perfect condition, 10 feet away and you would swear it was new. I have 2 accidents in one night (nice, HUH!) One in front passengers headlight and one in rear drivers wheel well. The one in front was the badboy, the hit broke my rack and pinion 4K by itself, plus bent the inside wheel knuckle 800 bucks, clear bra 1000.00 plus all the other stuff new headlight 900.00 etc. Ok my repair guy told me they would probably total the car, I said no way! Here's what he did. He put in an estimate for used repair items even though he new they were not available. And then he just added supplements as he went along. The original estimate was for about 9K to the insurance company, the ok'd by the time he was done the bill totalled 16,500.00 but he did not put the extra supplement in until the car was painted and being put back together (that is the trick) being put back together then they cannot total car. It is just a game the insurance company's play along with the repair shop. I put in another 1000.00 to repaint the whole car instead of 75%. the trick alittle at a time, if your estimator is good he should know how to play game. I know it is sick that the game needs to be played but it does. If you want more info. My email vettegood@aol.com

Hello again, another thing is remember the insurance company is not going to give you 16K for the totalled car and the car! You think you pocket 4K but I'll bet the Insurance company will sell car for a bit more because it is worth a lot when you sell piece by piece. Find out how much they will charge you to buy THEIR car back?
