Default Got tired of hot stinky rear brakes!

Today, I decided to do something about the rear brakes on my 06. I managed to find a set of Wagner Thermoquiet pads that fit her at the local Advance Auto Parts. The dealer put new brakes on the car 8K miles ago, and, the rear pads were just over 1/2 gone when I got things apart. I discovered when I took out the caliper bolts, that the dealer hadn't lubed them with anything. I had to clean them good, and, they went back in with a heavy coat of silicon grease on them. I also lubed up the handbrake cables with silicon spray while I was at it. While I was under the car I discovered that one of the worm drive clamps on the big rubber hose to the gas tank was hanging there loose - looked like it had been that way since the car was built. I managed to get a 1/4 drive socket on it and snugged it up. I was surprised that the car didn't leak fuel. The car's all back together, but, I haven't driven it yet to evaluate my handywork. Hope today's efforts solve my problem.

I put a set of Wagner ThermoQuiet semi-metallic pads on our S-Type's front wheels back in July. They don't make a sound, they stop great, and they create far less brake dust compared to the factory pads. For about $55, I couldn't be happier with the decision....

Jon: I know what you mean. The pads the dealer put on were putting out so much dust that my rims were black and I had streaks on my rear tires. When I got done last night my shirt and pants were covered with the stuff - what a mess. I drove the car a bit today - everything seems to be working fine, including the EPB. The rears cost me $61, but, I get a 15$ rebate back.
