Default Got a Tranny and AC question

Hello everyone, I have 2 questions. First about my tranny. Recently I've noticed a slight "lurch" when the car shifts. Seems like this is happening in the upper gears. I'm not talking about the "lurch" we all know and love :-), when the car slows to about 5 mph, then you accelerate and you feel the "lurch". This is different. It happens at higher speeds and when I'm accelerating. The lurch is slight, but noticeable. I would like to nip it in the bud now before it becomes a major problem. The car has 81k on it and I have never changed thr tranny fluid...any thoughts?

My second question is about the AC. If I set it to a temperature, say 65, it blows hot are for about 10 minutes before finally cooling off. I noticed yesterday that if I just set it to low, it blows cool air almost immediately. Do I just need to charge the AC or is there something else I should look at?

Thanks in advance for the help.

What year is your vehicle and is it a six or eight cylinder model?

Now for your A/C: this is a common problem. You evaporator sensors are most likely malfunctioning and either need to be cleaned or (which I recommend) need to be replaced.

Hard to say but the DCCV is much more likely than the temperature sensors. But more car info is needed and you need to do more reading. Try to find symptoms as close to your problem as possible.

If the vehicle is a 3.0 Litre, the DCCV valve is most likely the cause of any heater-related issues. If you have an 8-cylinder model, there is also an auxiliary pump that may be the cause along with the DCCV. My personal experience has been if the DCCV was not functioning correctly, the auxiliary pump has also stopped working.

As Clubairth1 said above, more vehicle information is needed.

Yes, it could be the DCCV; I thought so at first when my A/C was acting the same way, but chose to replace the sensors instead and it did the job.

I don't understand your response. You skip so many posts why? Because someone forgot to put the year and model in the post? it was just an oversight. I was doing other things when I posted.

Yeah, that's what he's doing too. He has limited time to help so skips posts which make it tough or impossible to help because the basic data is absent.

See below...

Its really easy to add your vehicle details to your signature.

Goto UserCP top left tool bar, edit signature, add vehicle details, save POOF no more guessing!

So the high speed issue - just to clarify - it happens at high speed only, and it happens when you accelerate hard, or just accelerate normally? Just trying to figure out if it happens from the 6-5 shift, or if you hammer it and it goes from say 6 to 3 or 6 to 4 or 5 to 4, etc. Any issues if you manually shift it with the J-gate?

Could be a number of issues, could be low on fluid, heck you could even have a coil issue. Any leaks?

Yep Chris, it isn't fun being chided on the forum for not listing your year/engine, you've been around for a while so some of us know what you drive, but hey, maybe take a few and add that info to your sig. It really does help people help you.

Thanks guys. I've edited my signature and totally understand. As far as the tranny issue, I'm not sure. I wouldn't say it only happens when I'm at WOT, but I have noticed it when I take off "briskly". LOL. It's a little late now, so tomorrow I'll be able to provide greater detail. Oh, and I haven't noticed any leaks. Thanks again guys!

Sounds good Chris - yeah mess around with it a little - try J-gate, see if you can maybe jot down a few notes as to when you feel this "lurch" type of activity. Let us know what you discover and we'll put our collective brainpower on the issue.
