Default Handbrake fault

Handbrake fault showing and the wheel sensor is fine but I'm wondering if my rear piston is partially seized on that side rear brake ? I'm waiting on the repair kit but I'm sure it's not working correctly. Anybody had this before ? The hand brake works well so I don't know for sure.

You might do well to read the codes from the module. Tool like IDS/SDD or iCarSoft.

New battery going in today, only getting 11 volts before start up but charging at 15 volts .I'll post and let you know if it puts my warning lights out for the handbrake and sensor . This battery is 38 months old but I had 40 month garentee.

Sounds like you are hot on the trail. 11 volts is very low. Fingers crossed a new battery takes care of it. Keep us posted.

Okay charged new battery overnight and showed 13 . 8 volts .no change with car though ! Shows 12.6 volts in normal use and charges at 15 volts .dosnt loose overnight or when standing. Going to check out wiring next motor for handbrake sounds a bit harsh so may be the culprit but does work.

You can but the you need to get the codes?
Otherwise you don't know where to start or what to do?
Good job replacing the battery as that is a real common problem. So you have eliminated that.

I have a decent code reader and the only thing is the "hand brake fault " showing. Unplugging the module used to remove the warning for a few hours after plugging it back in but that doesn't work anymore !
I checked one side caliper was free and working well but I need to check the other side.

Can you post the code or codes?
Or do you have the handbrake error on the dash?
