Hard to cold start on warm days
I've changed the EVAP purge valve. I did get a PO442 code for a very small leak. I used to get a strong smell of gasoline in the car vents after starting. However after the change in the EVAP purge valve the unburnt smell comes from the exhaust instead of the engine compartment. I haven't gotten a code after the reset, but know it's probably going to come sooner or later. I do hear a high pitch whistle, so there has to be a leak somewhere.
Changed all of the fuel injectors. (thinking one of the injectors was leaking, but probably not)
My mechanic performed a couple of smoke tests.
And still my car is hard to start, especially when it is warm over 85 degrees out.
On cool days it starts fine when cold. But after the car warms up then I stop and let it sit for an hour or more. The car again is hard to start. It catches but at a very low sputter then it goes to normal.
I'm assuming this is because of the evap leak? This is really bugging me as I've brought the car in now several times and nothing seems to fix the problem. I think the spark plugs were changed a while ago when I had the spark plug well gaskets changed.
Any other ideas? My mechanic is scratching his head as he can't seem to find the leak or where the whistling is coming from.
