Has anyone had their heating/cooling control panel repaired?
My 2003 S Type has a problem with the cooling system always blowing on the windshield in a defrost mode no matter what setting I have it on. This was causing the windshield to fog up, and the car wasn't as cold inside as half of the air at least wasn't blowing toward passengers.
I took it to a repair place that seems to be good (first repair the car has needed since I got it). They removed the "control panel" and are sending it off to be repaired as they don't have access to one here at a reasonable price. I don't know exactly what it is, other than I think the unit where I push the buttons to lower/raise the temp and change where the air blows.
Any experience with this? The dealer had quoted me $1500 and this is $750. The value of the car is $5,000 or so, so I'm not going too crazy on the cost.

When all else fails, try Search to at least get a feel for how it all works.
Lots of posts about issues in this system, try words like
climate
heater
DCCV
Try the FAQs, too
However, the usual faults (apart from too much heat) are a burnt trace or blown transistor whereas yours sounds more likely something else - quite possibly the actuator motor. A jag dealer can plug in their OBD tool and command/read the various components which should remove guesswork. It sounds like your dealer either didn't know how or couldn't be bothered
You may have someone competent near you if you fill in more in your profile.

Had the exact same issue with mine three months ago.
I thought it was the DCCV. Took it to mechanic I know:
1. The actuator motor was bad, this was the reason for the defrost at all times. He tried to fix the part but after a coulpe of days it locked up again. He ended up locking the actuator motor in place so that it remains on the front vents. I rarely need the defrost.
2. The DCCV was good, just recharged it with freon and that was it.
A/C blows ice cold now on all vents.

if it happens to be the CCM, these guys rebuild the non-nav modules for $99.00, and give a warranty.

I think there is also other vendors on Ebay that offer this service.
