Default Headlamp adjusters

After 7 years of ownership i always thiught my hid adjusters were broken like many. I had gotten a few high beam flashes that last few weeks so i decided to take a look last nite using a wall for my base alignment. I used the old metric of x amount of feet and height and found my drivers side a bit high. Anyway, i tried the adjusters and low and behold i could see movement with both screws and on both sides. Question is then. Is the adjustment done by a pro require special stuff for these hids. I can probably find the specs if needed unless someone has them readily available. 2006 s type r hid auto headlights. What a nice find after 7 years. Thanks for any input

The base adjustment is done by using the screws. The auto-level then uses sensors on the axles to determine if the beam needs to be temporarily dropped further.

yeah i have seen those about 100 times as being under the car that much. Thankfully they are unbroken and work fine. Even calibrated via sdd and checked aok. Almost messed up once doing suspension work and began to seperate parts before noticing the little unit getting stressed out. Thank goodness the swivel device had enough swivel when i noticed it. I think way the adjustment got off is because my gdaughter likes tools and i think she screwed on the one side and told me but i thought they were broke so no big deal. Official headlamp adjuster shops are a rarity in my neck of the woods so i will do some hunting

The headlight unit should have a % value on it which specifies the dip required - typically 1.0 - 1.3%. Intrinsically, the beam tester just matches this value. Doing it against a wall 5 m away with a 5 cm drop is a good starting point as long as the ground is horizontal.

Quick update
no more flashing from oncoming traffic and the lighting is now wonderful for night driving. Guess i did a good enough line up on my own. Seven years i went before realizing there was a problem so easily fixed
