Headlight Auto Levelling, always works, but never STAYS
I have searched through the repair for the pivot point headlight threads, and can't determine if the 'screw repair' applies in the case of headlights which auto level properly on startup, but fail to stay that way.
My drivers side VERY often points high, but then is ok after restart etc.
Both lights autolevel fine -suggesting the pivot points are ok and I don't need the 'screw repair' but almost always after a short drive the drivers side is pointing up.
Maybe I should do the screw repair and see if that makes any difference anyways?

Look at my headlight repair vid in my youtube channel linked in my sig. At the beginning I show you my drivers side which you can put your hand behind and shake to see if its tight. Then I shake the passenger side which is broke and is loose and all over the place. The video will show you what I am trying to explain. If its loose the rest of the video shows doing the screw method will fix your problem. If its loose the auto leveling still works as the autoleveling mechanism is attached to that whole piece that moves. So I would start by check that first since its the cheapest simplest method to fixing what may be your problem.

I just wanted to add to what vance580 said - I had the problem where the auto-leveling wasn't working on the driver's side. As vance describes, I could move the whole assembly with my hand. Did the screw fix and the light now dips and auto-levels and I use the screw to adjust the up/down aim.
I'm not very good working on the car, but figured what did I have to lose, it looks really easy to do and it'll save me $1k. Took all of 10 minutes to do and works great!

I beleive there's also the issue of units that don't move at all. I don't know which case yours is though.
I lost another headlamp yesterday. Apparently it broke while sitting up on jack stands for a week. These lamps really suck. It's making me seriously think about dumping the car. I run out of warranty in 6 months and these things are very expensive.
If your problem is the one they're describing where the resting perch breaks off then apparently the simple screw fit will work just fine. I worry about what happens when the part that moves the lamp up and down stops functiong properly. Given these units penchat for failure I think it's a legitimate concern. I haven't heard of a cheap & easy fix for that.

Screw not installed
I got my tools out and suitable screws to do this repair, but stopped as I looked specifically and closely and determined that both my headlights feel and look normal with respect to willing the highbeam and the low beam remaining un-moved.
So I don't my lights lack any pivot point, or that the failing to STAY levelled has anything to do with the sheet metal screw repair.
Any other comments?/Suggestions?
