Hey everyone, before I tear into some headlights I had just gotten from the scrapyard, I was wondering if this was fixable. I'm new to jaguars, so I don't know much about their parts.I want to know if it is fixable, or if I have to return the headlight to the junkyard, and get store credit. That white adjuster, I'm assuming that's what it is because it has a wheel that turns behind it, is what is broken. The smaller headlight doesn't want to stay in place because of that white piece of plastic with the screw. I'm trying to sell them, and I highly doubt anyone will want to buy them if they have that issue. Thoughts anyone?
You can find several posts on this forum on making repairs. If you elect to take it apart you can find the parts you need on eBay. I plan to repair my lights as well.
I do plan on taking it apart if that's what it's going to take in order to make that repair. I'm not sure how to find that part though because I have no clue what it is or if it's replaceable
So I took the headlights apart and I'm going to buy the adjusters for them. I had one question, does anyone know where I can find the electrical diagram of the harness so I can test if the headlights even work before I start restoring them? Figured if there's any electrical issues I'd take care of those problems first. I salvaged the headlights with the adapter that attaches to the jag's electrical harness. I'll post pictures of what I'm talking about when I have the chance.
Hey that electrical diagram really helped! I was able to read it easily because I've had about 4 years of studying electronics, so reading the diagram was a breeze. I seem to have a new dilemma I ordered the adjusters for my headlights, and am ready to start cleaning the lenses free of that irritating yellowing when I noticed something strange.
that video shows step-by-step on the entire restoration process. What caught my eye was that my headlight, and that headlight were exactly a like except for one difference that I realized in the video. I started wondering how the lamps move with the adjusters, and I noticed in the video that he has a motor on his headlights, and my headlights don't have that. I took them out of a V6 s type, so I'm really hoping that that's the reason that because I got them from a V6. Here's a picture of my headlights to compare. I also noticed that the wiring for my headlights weren't damaged, or cut so I don't believe it ever had a connection for a motor. Thoughts anyone?
It's just a twist cap with a screw on the other end
