Headlights/Headlamps
After driving about 100 miles yesterday night, I noticed that my eyes have greatly deteriorated compared with what they once were. The American lighting standards do not help, either. They are designed to produced upward dazzle instead of illuminating the road ahead.
I would like to replace the headlight assemblies on my 2003 S-type with ECE (European standard) headlamps. I have searched the internet, but I haven't found too much. Anyone know who sells them without too much hassle?

I found out that ECE stands for (United Nations) Economic Commission for Europe. ECE standards apply to headlights. The ECE headlights have a flatter, longer beam pattern than US headlights, which have upward beam scatter supposedly to read overhead signs. I installed the ECE headlights on my 1987 Acura Integra. You could see further more clearly with them. There were no dark spots in the beam pattern.
To answer the question, ECE headlights apply to a beam pattern standard, not to the type of bulb, so they could be HID or halogen. I prefer a white halogen. I find the HID look to be slightly obnoxious, but they have improved over the years.

I tested my lights out tonight. They are brighter, but he dark spots are still there thanks to my government.
Maybe I will get lucky and find some. Guess I'll keep looking on Ebay.
