Default Headlights Resolved

Hi,
I have a 2003 S Type Jag and in the last year my headlights now point to the ground. I tried adjusting them using the 2 sets of screws but they do nothing. Does anyone think that the adjusting screws are broken on both sides? Is that possible. And if they need to be replaced what is a good and fair price? I live in Hawaii and everything here is expensive and I have no confidence in our Jaguar dealership because they just rip you off. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Are they HID? Are you sure? If they are then I think the module has lost its programming and a dealer is about your only choice. (The module only exists for HID I believe.)

Hey r.klatt. Its good to see someone else on this forum that's from Hawaii. I know my night headlight housing jiggles a lot. I want to replace mine as well but I know that the price of head light money can be spent on many other jaguar parts.

If you can jiggle them up and down by gripping the bulb holder they are broken, if so there is a simple fix, costs about 10p (uk) by inserting a simple screw shown somewhere on this forum and the uk forum???

A great video. I will attempt to remove the plastic shroud and see if the headlights move around like your one side did. If it is and a simple self-tapping screw fixes it I owe you big time. Thanks again.

r.klatt, could you mention in your other post about the same issue, that you have solved it now to save members answering your query for no reason?

I have not resolved the problem yet. Still working on it but will do so once I figure it all out.

This seems like a good place to show how I used the basic "Brutal" (forum member and Jaguar mechanic, I think) screw method to fix my right HID headlight/lamp on my 2005 S-type two months ago. I also adjusted both headlights higher so that now I have really effective HID lighting. It looks like I can't post a bunch of pictures.
Here's one from the forum photo album. The rest are in the album and I'll try posting a link.

Thumbs up drooping headlight fix

A couple of things about this fix.
1st. use a machine screw not a self tapping screw
2nd drill a hole a little smaller than your chosen machine screw in the location shown in the video and pictures in previous threads. Do not drill or puncture the rubber sheathing.
3d screw the machine screw in until you have the correct height and note how much of the machine screw is not screwed into the housing. Remove the screw and carefully cut off an equal amount of the screw. Smooth the end with a file and reinsert it until the head of the screw seals the hole.
