heating and cooling sensors
Apparently I, like several thousand others here, have the no heat problem with my 2002 S-type 3.0. What id like to know is this; is there a way to test the cabin sensors or to bypass them for testing purposes of the heating system? can the sensors be checked for proper operation? can the connectors be jumpered or energized to fool the system into thinking its working? i realize these are not the most expensive parts but i'd like to be as sure as possoble before spending my hard earned yet meager wages... thanks

They can be read via OBD commands, but the software supporting those commands is specialised (IDS, maybe WDS, AE etc) and so quite or very expensive.
Otherwise, you might make up a sort of T cable to connect into the CCM's connectors so you can have it in circuit as usual but also measure any signals you choose. There might be more convenient places to use a T, but the idea's the same.
Then demand various temperatures (extremes, for instance) and even with a bit of heating/cooling you could watch the sensor values.
A bit more than a T cable would let you energise the actuators (air flaps etc).
The pain of this is why the OBD commands are there. Car makers generally, jag included, don't publish freely what the commands actually are, so no cheap or free tools exist.

I'm about 98% sure that it is the DCCV after reading the forum and doing some testing. I was hoping that there was an easy way to test whether the sensors were good or bad, (maybe by getting a resistance or voltage reading across the part.) based on the partial heat on one side and none on the other its probably the valve. So off I go to find one.
thanks again for the input.

Thats a better price than I paid I bought the bosch before I knew that I could buy the motorcraft.
make sure your DCCV is the 5 pipe type. I think the 2003 and up have the 3 pipe type and its cheaper. If your is late 2002 you might want to check.

I just ordered this on Feb 17 from Amazon and it was only $133.73 with free shipping. Received it in 3 days. Did they raise the price that much in 2 weeks?
It has been suggested that a good pair of hose clamp pliers is very beneficial. Here is the one I ordered. http://mlautomotiveonline.com/OTC-To...-P1313539.aspx
