I like those brake caliper styles and I read that they are reliable plus they look marvelous on the s type

While other modifications are relatively harmless or appeal to the 'boy racer' in some of us, modifying the braking system is more serious and requires more thought.

The braking systems on most modern vehicles incorporate electronic brake force distribution based on weight bias as well as balancing the antilock brake system sensors with computer modules. This is without considering the diameter of the master cylinder bore and the caliper piston displacement(s), which determine the pedal feel and response.

Having taken all these variables into consideration, one can embark on modifications to the braking system. Are you going to use your vehicle for racing or time trials and what are you intending to do with the front calipers?

Bear in mind the STR has very modified suspension from a 2001 car AND the rear brakes are twofold: Brembo and separate handbrake (EPB). You're going to really struggle to do it. Really.

I wouldn't start

check this out:
post number 68, the LS owner gives up. I believe your 01 S type has the same suspension, Jaguar S-Type-R brake and wheel upgrade - Page 3 - Lincoln vs Cadillac

I am in the process of slowly collecting parts for a similar porject. I have a 03 Stype Sport and so far my list of parts that need replacement are:
Steering knuckles, hubs, rotors, dust shields, brake lines, calipers, caliper bolts, wheels for the front.
So far i have 19" wheels and the STR front calipers lol

I don't see the EPB parts, which I reckon you'll need.

I think he is only doing the fronts. If he was doing the rears also he would probably need alot more then that. May be cheaper to just sell and get an STR. 03's arent priced to bad. Also you may want to check if the master cylinder is different between the STR and S type. May be different since the STR's is pushing 16 pistons. Something else to check on.
