Amadauss, for the X-type, it wasn't hard to get to at all but unfortunately, the sensor is at the bottom of the washer fluid tank right by the front passenger tire. You would have to take off the cover by the underside off and voila you'd see the fluid bottle. (I had to take the tire off to have enough room to take the cover off. When you take the sensor out of the bottle, it causes the washer fluid to drain out which is why a grommet gasket) holds it in place. Other than the little mess the drain created, it was all a sweet fix. I hope it is the same with the S-type.

Mike, aibeekay is correct, on our S Types the reservoir is located in front of the passenger front tire. The bumper skin will have to be removed to gain access. As I recall its a tight fit (what isn't ). You may find it helpful to blow out the hose that goes from the reservoir to the wiper squirters, mine had plugged up some time ago.

Gotta pipe in here.. You may not need to remove the bumper cover. When I changed the front fog lamp the washer bottle was clearly visible when the fender liner was removed. So, that path may be the easier way to access it.

hmmm that may be just the ticket! I can see that would be considerable less work.

Maybe you should just pin the sensor to turn off the light. Do you really need a sensor to tell you the reservoir is low? Or can you fill it occasionally. Afterall if the washers dont work, the reservoir is likely empty. Or you could spend the money for a new sensor.
And that does look like the aux water pump connector for the V8 heater pump

I like the idea of checking the fluid so Brutal, or anyone, can you just give a little detail on how to pin the sensor? Thanks

well without looking at a wiring diag, it is either a closed circuit or open to shut off the light. I suspect a closed circuit, youll just have to butt connect the 2 wires together to complete the circuit. if it open then unplugging the sensor should turn out the light. If you do unplug it and it stays on connect the wires together. Its just like a light switch on/off, open or closed circuit

I agree with Brutal. That should stop the light. That was an option for me but i went with a new sensor instead...Good luck

As soon as I get rid of the 8 inches of water in my back yard, will give it a try. Thanks Brutal and aibeekay for the help. As always, appreciated.

Does any of you Pros know if the water tank of V6, V8 and Diesel are interchangeable? I have to replace my front bumper, and figured I might as well finish that half-baked Xenon conversion I'm driving around with (missing headlamp washers and auto-levelling).

I see a lot of Xenon (two pumps instead of one) water tanks from Diesel S-Types. Will those fit my 2006 V6?

Thanks,
Fritz

Thank you Jon 89. I thought I was going to need to replace my washer resevior. I kept filling it and no luck. It seemed to leak but the fluid was just reaching the overflow level... I filled the tank 3 times and finally today filled it wth the motor running. The washer message finally stopped! The lines were apparently also clogged but i pressed the washer button while the hood was up and whola... cleared lines. This forum is great! It has given me the courage to tackle issues that otherwise would have cost me $$$..
