help engine code P0353
I have a 2000 s type with a v 6
I am getting a check engine code which says p0353 primary / secondary circuit
I replaced the coil pack on the 3rd one on passenger side and still no luck
the car seems to be running fine but I wish to figure out the problem
i have one other code which is for the cat which i have to replace
any ideas on how to fix code p0353?
thanks

RE: help engine code P0353
check the harness behind the intake close to fiewall. that runs near the back of the intake.. it goes thru a black circular bracket that shares the back 2 bolts of the intake.. the harness chaffs on the bracket and shorts out some coils.. throw the bracket away...

Di you remove the bracket like Genius said?
If you didnt, do so and do not reinstall. Make sure you put the two bolts back into intake. Do not use bracket.
You must have had intake off already to change coil?
Just for ***** and giggles, on drivers side, swap the first two coils with each other and see if code changes.
I have seen false flagged codes for cyl numbers when using generic scan tool.
First though lose the bracket.

RE: help engine code P0353
We are not talking about the plastic piece. There is a big round metal bracket at rear of engine. Remove that and look for wire chaffing.
Are you sure the coil just got broken? Possible was broken when you installed and that is why code not changing?
Swap the other side coils around too. See if code changes.
This problem should not be hard to find if giving hard code constantly.

Yes i just broke the coil, i was messing arround and when i tried pluging it back in i broke it.
I do not see the metal bracket, do you hapen to have a picture of it? maybe im missing it.
I have the intake off again and am about to re install it. i replaced the coil and switched the first two with the left side to just move them arround.
i wounder if someone already removed the metal bracket befor or im just not seeing it. a picture or description would be great. i already removed the black plastic piece though

i just replaced the coil pack and switched the other ones arround and still same code. i see no problems in the wiring i do not see that metal bracket the wiring from the coil pack goes into the plastic protection for the wiring and the brown wire runs down to the computer on the passenger side of the car no metal tube.
Could it be a bad computer or something else?
I know the cat needs to be replaced but i dont think that would have anything to do with that code though
any other ideas?
thanks

RE: help engine code P0353
Use dvom and see if the coil is getting power. If I remember correctly, coils should have 12 volts and the PCM should ground it to make coil fire.
I have seen bad PCM, but it took out whole bank of coils.
You may need a coil tester, or take it somewhere to have it diagnosed correctly.
The bracket would have been obvious if there. Someone likely already tossed it.
