Default HELP Locking wheel nuts

I have not got the wheel locking nut tool for my S-Type - Jaguar cannot supply the tool based on my VIN or registration number, and my garage says the conical wheel nuts are ones they cannot remove.

Does anyone have a master kit or equivalent I could borrow to get them off at least?

The MOT is due this weekend and I need to get these off in order for the car to have what needs doing for the MOT done.

Many, many thanks

Could try an emergency locking wheel nut removal tool?

I have the standard laser removal tools but they cant get any grip on the conical locking nuts.. I am trying my contact in Harwoods to see if he has a solution for this, but at the moment I am stuck - sigh.. there is always something when I work on a car that goes adrift.. my fault entirely

Thanks for that Busa, but they are the look the same as the laser ones I have (I had to get them for the same issue on my previous X308 but it's nuts were easier to remove)

Sorry Steve I missed the word "conical".

Got a local workshop who can spark weld a nut on the end without damaging the wheel?

not yet... Harwoods Crawley want £180 labour + £69 parts, no one locally will commit to being able to remove them either.. I have emailed a contact in Harwoods Brighton in the hope he might be able to resolve this for me but currently am stuck. My garage have removed locking nuts before but they were pretty standard ones.. It wasn't until yesterday when I confirmed with them they could do them before the MOT itself that they said conical ones they cannot do - hence my issue

Without seeing the conical nut, would a gator grip socket do the job?

To get a nut or a bolt even welded on the end you could try a back street tyre bay? Tyre bays see this all the time.

Thanks Steve for the images of the nuts.
I reckon a gator grip might do that?

Also there is 3 or 4mm of parallel sides where it sits on the wheel.
That should be enough metal to get a bite from a reverse thread socket? Just need the correct size reverse threaded socket

These have a conical reverse screw thread.
Screwfix seem to be taking over the high streets so its not hard to find a local one.

Just had a thought.
Are those locking nuts two piece?

Because you can't use any tool which sits on the outside part on the nut.
Well you can but you run the risk of snapping the head off.
That's why the slots go through to the lower part of the nut.

They are one piece and I am assuming I think it is 19 or 20mm same as the normal nuts.. the kits Busa has been kind enough to suggest dont seem to go that big though

Steve Neither of the two sets Screwfix are selling give the actual sizes.
Phone Screwfix and ask or pop in? They are very helpful people.

The Gator Grip is still a possibility.

Correction.
One set is max 16mm.
But your locking nuts are conical so it might fit?

Have you tried your local Ford dealer at all?
You'd be surprised what the mechanics keep in their tool boxes at the dealers.
Those nuts look very Ford like

Interesting.. This morning I was at my local Harwoods Jaguar in Crawley looking at a plastic tool that definitely does not allow removal of locking nuts and enquiring about the cost of really sorting my issue..

They quoted one hours labour at £180 plus a set of locking lugs and their associated tool for £60.

So, through Tony my contact at Harwoods Brighton, I made contact with the parts manager there and found that he was happy supplying conventional lug nuts at £4 each (wheel theft is pretty rare in this area anyway) and maybe £55 for 15 minutes labour.

Such a difference.

He also noted that looking up my registration and VIN suggests my S-Type is manual?? commenting he has only ever seen two in all his years with Jaguar... so all is booked up - have put the MOT back a week to allow time for this

Why is it that the crooks never have a problem removing wheels with locking wheel nuts but honest people can never get them off???
