Default Help! Touchscreen dead!

I have never had an issue before... but today, when I started my STR, the Touchscreen was blank....no response.
None of the buttons around the L and R side of the touchscreen work (NAV/ Audio/ fan speed, screen defrosts etc)
The small LCD screen below the main touchscreen is showing C1, then changes to 'Ext Temp' 50, then changes to 51, then back to C1...and continues to cycle through these.
The car drives perfectly, and I have started the car 3 times and driven it each time.... no change.
Voice function does not work....but the radio does (sound, but no unctionality through the touch screen)
It is a module or a sensor that has failed???

I'd suspect a fuse before a sensor or module. Seems like all the stuff you mentioned (on an S-type) is a single 10 amp fuse.

You might also find a later nav revision disk and flash the modules a couple of people here have tried and met with success.

Pretty sure most of that has been covered before BUT.... Search won't find anything with 3 or fewer letters. google can do it and can be used like this:
site:www.jaguarforums.com +LCD +C1
(or whatever)

If it's not a fuse, check relays

If need be, the firmware (software) inside the satnav module can be reloaded - but ONLY from the right kind of disc. Many jag guys don't understand that, and think it can be done from their great OBD tool (IDS). Not so, because if the module doesn't have its firmware it can't do OBD. There's a TSB about reloading from disc.

edit: I tried the above google and it works well plus you are not alone!
also try such as Search (on this forum) with terms like
blank screen

panobo;
When you find out what it is please post back.
It's not a common problem and may be one of those things that start showing up as the cars age more.

Thanks Guys- I appreciate all of your help. I think it may well be the NAV drive in the boot- It will not eject the disc and there is no noise (spinning disc noise) ....when I have time I will check the connections on the back and see if there is power to it...then I will report back to the forum, so that if anyone else has this issue in the future, they can refer back to this thread. (let's hope its a loose connector and not the unit going faulty)

RESOLUTION;
I removed the Sat DVD unit from the boot (truck for those state side!) as the disk was not spinning and would not eject.
I opened up the unit and removed the disk.
I then reinstalled the unit (not fixing bolts and the outer cover still off)
I inserted the disk.....it span up and after a few seconds, the touch screen started to function, all of the buttons worked and the error code on the little LCD screen below the touch screen disappeared.
I then removed the Sat DVD, replaced the outer cover and then remounted it back into the boot.....
All working- no issues...and I'm happy!!!

OK, then you need the other disc etc as in the TSB. Forget the AC for now.
