Hi Jon, XK8 Update?

Update:
The XK8 arrived last night after the sun had set so I couldn't get a proper look and feel of the car until daybreak today. Did a very thorough inspection first thing this morning, and the car has been meticulously cared for. Sparkling clean cabin, engine bay, and trunk. No sign of water intrusion anywhere, almost miraculous for a convertible. I have a very short punch list of small repairs to do thus far. My expectations have been exceeded by this vehicle. Thanks again, George....
My wife took off in her new car a couple of hours ago to visit friends and run errands. I'm guessing she'll be back within a week or so....

Has your wife returned yet? On the bright side about being on your own is that you can crank up your speakers, drink beer and fart and nobody cares. Your dogs might look at you funny though.

How right you are, Mike....
I actually have the XK8 today. Only reason it's here is so I can take care of most of the items on my punch list. Had to remove the passenger seat and open up the leather to shorten the cable sheath that drives the motorized headrest up and down. A well-documented flaw on these cars, and there's a great how-to-fix-it video in the XK8 forum. A couple of hours and $4 worth of marine-grade heat-shrink tubing later, her motorized passenger headrest works perfectly. When her drivers headrest suffers the same failure (and you know it will), I have enough heat-shrink tubing left over to fix that side as well....
Still missing the passenger-side wiper blade nut plastic cover that keeps the rain off of the wiper arm nut. That part was missing on just about every XK8 we looked at. Always the passenger side, never the drivers side. Fortunately, it's one of those rare $3 parts at the dealership. My wife will be near the local dealership this afternoon and is supposed to pick one up. Since they tend to pop off for whatever reason, I may use just a drop or two of rubber cement to hold it in place but still allow me to remove it if necessary....
The upholstery on the A-pillars in these cars tends to shrink and wrinkle with time. I've found a video on how to re-cover them. If my wife will select the appropriate headliner material at the fabric store, I can re-cover both A-pillars for less than $10. But she has to find the fabric match. I know better than to try to do that. She'll just accuse me of being colorblind. Once that fix is done, my initial punch list is finished....
I love this 4.2-litre V8, but I cannot fit into the car. Absolutely zero legroom and no headroom either unless the top is down. I look like a clown in the circus driving one of those midget cars. I'm glad my wife loves the car because I will not be driving it....
