I was just driving my 2003 s-type r & my engine light came on saying high engine temperature so i pulled into the closest gas station to check the coolent level & it was fine. i waited 10mins & started it & it seemed fine until i started driving again & the temperature started to go back up & the light came back on. after about 10 stops i made it home lol does any1 know what the problem could be & maybe a quick fix. Thanks , Mike

When the temp starts to go up, turn the heat up and see if it starts to go back down. If the thermostat is stuck closed this will let the water circulate. Stuck closed will get hotter the faster that you drive. I had the same symptoms and they replaced the thermostat and the water pump that was leaking. Now all is well.
Hope this helps.

i just drove the car 2 the shop. by the time i got there the temperature gage was almost at the red. i did try 2 turn up the heat but it only slowed down the rate of it heating up but did not stop it. i got my friend 2 check it out & the engine temperature was normal so he is going 2 try 2 reset the computer & see if it happens again.

sometimes my temp needle rises fast, i mean fast.....like from normal to high in 3 seconds.........usually it means that I have to refill the overflow resovior with antifreeze and then when I stop it seems that the antifreeze is overflowing....
it beats me, but as long as all i need ot do is add antifreeze im not too worried about it

The reason the coolant overflows that way is because the pressure buildup from thermostat sticking. New thermostat will fix it.
Also, from cold to operating temp, the gauge works well. Once at operating temp, there is really no inbetween. Will normally go from op temp to hot immediately. Thats if you are lucky. Sometimes they dont show it overheating at all.
