Yes, you have to remove this cap also, then lift the jet pump and disconnect the two fuel lines.
Tie a string around them and pull them through to the Pass side.
Tie the string to the new fuel pump lines and pull them through to the driver's side and install them to the jet pump.
I can never remember which pump setup a car has, I just give the Vin to parts and let them order the right parts.
You should replace both large o ring gaskets on the flanges, one each side.

For small tools, the Ez-Red line is an excellent choice.

Very helpful, thank you.

May have to pick up an Ez-Red line tool when I put new band clamps on.

The new fuel pump will arrive today but it's football Sunday so no work today.

How about one of these, a 1/4" drive flex-head carb adjustment tool? :

I have one and it is awesome for reaching right spots. It's only suitable for light torque but it may be enough. They also make a version (TM64) with a fixed angle end.

I know it's been awhile but here are some things I figured out. My car had the gas tank replaced under a Jag recall. The car also has the CA emissions label under the hood but the fuel pump that's in it is not a CA emissions pump. Perhaps they changed it out with the recall repair. Since most people show a setup that has a twist off ring instead of the bands I assume the bands are on the recall tanks only.

I got the bands off by slicing into the body under the seat to give me room to work. The little round 'cap' is just that. As mentioned above it had a hex head on it when new but that breaks off once the band reaches a certain torque. I got those caps off with pliers and back and forth twists. I ended up getting a pair of tin snips on the bands and cut them off.

I''m going to post a very important message below.

IMPORTANT

I did finally get the fuel pump replaced. The car still wouldn't start. I was replacing the fuel pump because a mechanic told me that was most likely the problem without looking at the car. I ended up having the car towed to an authorized jag repair place. The problem was a $4 fuse for the fuel pumps. Costs me hundreds!

Moral of the story... Check fuse #F23 in the trunk fuse box before replacing the fuel pump. It's a 30 amp fuse and looks like these.

If the fuse has blown, it's usually because the pump is going bad and drawing too much current.
You probably would have had to replace the pump sooner than later.

There is also a diode in the fuse box that also controls fueling.

They did tell me I probably needed to change the pump anyway. If I had only checked the fuse before having it towed I would have saved about $350. Thanks.
