Which engine is fitted to your X200?
Refer to the Workshop Manual, if you don't have the Workshop Manual, you can download it here:

Refer to section 307-05.
Before tampering with the gearbox or other components, check to see if the two 8mm bolts securing the cable to the gearbox are in place and tight. If they fall out the vehicle will not shift properly. These bolts should be checked at each oil change if the vehicle is fitted with the ZF 6HP26 gearbox.
